Hi Diandra,

If I were a visitor on Chef's Tales and I had spent hours thinking what to write concerning this post, I could not have written anything more articulated than what you have written here today.

I think what you have written here is fantastic, accurate and to the point and something that others can learn from.

Like the old saying goes, everything in moderation is the key I guess.

Very well said indeed.

If this is the quality of your contributions I sincerely hope you pass by again.

Warm regards,

Mike.

Well, first of all we're trained by our genes to eat as much of all the stuff which in ancient times was precious, because there wasn't much of it and we needed it dearly. Which is: Fat, Sugar, oil, salt, calories in general. Our lives have changed, our genes (and therefore tastebuds) haven't. Which is pretty fine with me.

In addition, according to scientists, children are "trained" to like or dislike certain kinds of food - by what their mother eats during pregnancy and breast-feeding as well as by what they get at home. Now, I don't consider it reasonable to ban unhealthy food and raise kids only on organic, sugar-free low-fat tasteless macrobiotic stuff... everything that is enjoyed by other kids will eventually find its way into your kids' mouth, and they may love it and eat it secretly and without parental supervision. Therefore, why not try to teach them as much about good food as possible and add junk food now and then just for fun?

Hi Ronniesoak,

Fantastic comments and a contribution that I am very happy to share with others..well done & thank you.

Fast food has marketing that is too good for children to understand that the food is no good for them.

Thanks for dropping by & I hope to hear from you again soon.

Sincere and warm regards to you.

Brilliant Article. My kids have been brought up to beleive that Fast food chains are an occasional treat, and that works well. but they do eat a good diet, and not over much on sweets and crisps etc. Took them, while on holiday last week, to eat lunch in a proper hotel, they both tucked into roast peppers stuffed with cous cous, and promptly demanded I make for them next time they visit with me... they did moan about the slow service though... but were ok when I explained that the food was cooked to order.
