The profound grief you feel is palpable and has brought tears to my eyes in reading this. Your post was amazingly touching and with all my heart I do feel for your loss. I have always lived with such a terror inside me ever since my sister's little girl died of cancer when she was just 3 years old. I loved her like a daughter and her untimely death had such an impact on my life. The "what if" has never left me and that traumatic moment of loss is still with me today while I raise my girls. I can barely grasp an idea of why someone would want to do such a horrible thing, but they are out there. I see children walking the streets after school so tiny and defenseless it makes me cringe, where are his parents?! Unfortunately, of all the beautiful things I teach my girls the most important one I can ever teach them is distrust and danger. Thank you again for leading me to this wonderful post, now I know there are more people like me out there and you are one of them Michael.
